Spiced Apples
Ingredients
1-1/2 C. concentrated apple juice
2/3 C. distilled vinegar
1 tsp. whole cloves
1 cinnamon stick broken into 4 pieces
1/3 tsp. red food coloring (optional)
5 medium apples, sweet, yellow delicious, peeled, cut into 1/8-inch pieces
Cooking Instructions
Combine all ingredients, except apples, in saucepan; bring to a boil. Drop apples into hot solution. Simmer until slightly soft, about 10 minutes at most. Pack into hot, clean jars, leaving 3/4 inch at top. Cap with hot lids. Process in boiling water bath for 5 minutes after water returns to boiling, or in pressure cooker for 15 minutes at 5 pounds pressure.
