Zesty Pork Chops
Ingredients
6 rib pork chops, 3/4 inch thick
1 tsp. salt (or lawry’s)
2 Tbsp. shortening
1/2 C. maple syrup
1/2 C. catsup (hickory or regular flavor)
2 Tbsp. lemon juice
2 tsp. worcestershire sauce
1 apple, cored and cut into 6 slices
1 Tbsp. cornstarch
2 Tbsp. water
Cooking Instructions
Season chops with salt. Brown in hot shortening. Drain. For sauce: Combine syrup, catsup, lemon juice and Worcestershire sauce, reserve 1/2 C.. Pour remaining sauce over chops. Reduce heat. Cover and simmer for 25 minutes. Place apple slice on each chop; top with reserved sauce. Simmer about 25 minutes longer. Remove chops to warm platter. Combine cornstarch and water in sauce. Boil until thickened.
