Ingredients

1 C. corn syrup
1 C. cold water
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 Tbsp. shortening
1 tsp. soda
2 C. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder

Cooking Instructions

Preheat oven to 325. Put first 6 ingredients in saucepan. Bring to a boil and cook 3 minutes after reaching boiling point. Add shortening. When cool add soda dissolved in a little hot water. Add flour and baking powder. Stir. Pour into greased tube pan. Bake for 1 hour at 325.
