Toasted Almond Finnish Bread
Ingredients
1 C. milk
2 eggs
2 tsp. almond extract
2 Tbsp. butter
1/2 C. sugar
3/4 tsp. salt
3 C. bread flour
2 1/2 tsp. yeast
2 Tbsp. orange zest
1 tsp. freshly grated nutmeg; or 1 tsp. ground cardamom
Cooking Instructions
Put all ingredients in the Breadmaker mixing pan in order given. Insert pan into Breadmaker. Set a timer for 40 minutes. When first rise begins remove dough from mixing pan and roll it in sliced almonds to coat as thickly and thoroughly as possible. Place almond coated dough in Finnish pan and reinsert in the Breadmaker. Cut a Tbls. of butter into small pieces and dot the top of the bread with the butter.
