Sausage Sauerkraut Casserole
Ingredients
1 pound italian sausage, mild cut into 1-inch slices; or one pound pork chops, browned
1 large onion; chopped
2 apples; peeled and quartered
1 package sauerkraut; undrained, 32 ounce
1 C. water
1/2 C. brown sugar
2 tsp. caraway seed
Cooking Instructions
In a skillet, cook sausage and onion until sausage is brown and onion is tender; drain. If using pork chops, brown and partially cook for about 10 minutes. Stir in apples, sauerkraut, water, brown sugar and caraway seed. Transfer to a 2-1/2 quart baking dish. Cover and bake at 350 for 1 hour. Garnish with snipped parsley if desired.
