Pork Chops Old Home Style With Potatoes Dre
Ingredients
6 pork chops, 3/4 inch thick
Salt & pepper
1 Tbsp. cooking oil
3 Tbsp. margarine
4 C. seasoned croutons
3/4 C. water, divided
3 med. potatoes, quartered
1 can mushroom soup
Cooking Instructions
Brown pork chops in a Dutch oven in oil; add salt and pepper. Melt margarine, then mix croutons with margarine and add 1/4 cup water. Shape crouton mixture into small balls and place them on top of the pork chops. Place potato quarters around chops, pour soup on top of the entire dish, add 1/2 cup water and bake for 50 to 60 minutes at 350 degrees. This recipe was created by Woody Woodruff in 1920 for camping trips. By using 5 to 6 well started coals under the Dutch oven and an equal number on top, one can generally achieve medium oven temperatures of 350 degrees. This recipe works great in today’s ovens and can be varied slightly for either microwave or slow cooker.
