Orange Cake And Frosting
Ingredients
2 C. sugar
1/2 C. butter
6 egg yolks, beaten
1 egg white
4 C. flour
1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 C. milk
1/4 C. orange juice
1 orange rind, grated
Orange Frosting:
4 C. powdered sugar
1 tsp. cream
1/2 C. butter
Gated rind and juice of 2 oranges
Cooking Instructions
Cream sugar and butter. Dissolve soda in milk. Add eggs, flour and milk, beating well. Add orange juice. Makes 3 layers. Bake at 325 for 60-70 minutes until done. Ice with Orange Frosting. Grate orange rind over top. Orange Frosting: Grate orange rind coarsely. Squeeze through gauze and wring the juice onto the sugar. Let stand about 10 minutes or longer. Blend the sugar and butter together and beat in the juice and cream.
