Molasses Cake
Ingredients
1 C. boiling water
1/2 C. packed brown sugar
1/2 C. molasses
1/4 C. lard
1 1/2 C. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground allspice
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1/4 tsp. salt
1 beaten egg
1/2 C. raisins
Cooking Instructions
In mixing bowl pour boiling water over sugar, molasses, and lard. Stir together flour, baking soda, spices, and salt; stir into molasses mixture. Add egg; beat until smooth. Stir in raisins. Pour into greased and floured 9 x 9 inch baking pan. Bake at 375 until done approximately 30 to 35 minutes.
