Herbed Beef Patties
Ingredients
1 1/4 lb. lean ground beef
3 Tbsp. cold water
1/2 tsp. garlic salt
1 tsp. dried oregano leaves
Dash black pepper
Dash paprika
All-purpose flour
1 egg, slightly beaten
1/4 C. fine seasoned bread crumbs
2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
TOPPING:
1 C. spaghetti sauce
3/4 C. grated cheddar cheese
2 Tbsp. Parmesan cheese
1 Tbsp. chopped fresh herbs such as basil leaves, safe, oregano or thyme
Cooking Instructions
Combine beef, cold water, garlic salt, oregano, pepper and paprika. Mix to blend. Shape beef mixture into even patties. Coat patties with flour. Dip into egg and bread crumbs. Arrange beef patties on a microsafe dish. Microwave at HIGH power for 1 1/2 minute on EACH side. Let rest for a few minutes. Top patties with grated cheese and pour spaghetti sauce over them. Microwave for another 2 minutes at HIGH power or until patties are hot and cooked to your liking and cheese is melted. Sprinkle with herbs. Serve. REMEMBER: If patties are made of very lean beef, cooking time might be a little longer. If the ground beef is fattier, they will cook in less time. The flour and the coating will absorb draining off fat and the egg will seal in the juices.
