German Style Sausage And Potatoes
Ingredients
1 1/2 pounds potato medium
4 tsp. anise seeds
1 1/2 tsp. coriander seeds
1 tsp. caraway seeds
1 tsp. mustard seed
1/3 C. beer
1/4 C. vinegar
3 Tbsp. spicy brown mustard
1 Tbsp. cornstarch
1 Tbsp. sugar
1/4 tsp. pepper
3 dashes worcestershire sauce
3 dashes hot pepper sauce
1 C. onion and celery chopped
1 C. cabbage shredded
1 Tbsp. oil
12 ounces kielbasa cut into 1/2 inch slices
1 C. swiss cheese shredded
Cooking Instructions
In a large saucepan cook potatoes, covered, in a small amount of boiling water for 20 minutes or till tender. Cool, chill, peel, and thinly slice. Crush seeds. Combine seeds, beer, vinegar, mustard, cornstarch, sugar, pepper, Worcestershire, and pepper sauce. set aside. In a small skillet cook onion, celery, and cabbage in hot oil for 4 minutes. In ungreased rectangular baking dish, layer half the cabbage mixture, half sausage, half potatoes, and half cheese. Stir the seed mixture. Spoon 1/2 of seed mixture on top of cheese. Repeat layers. Bake uncovered 375 for 30 minutes.
