Fruit Tart With Glaze
Ingredients
1/3 C. whole wheat flour
1/3 C. all purpose flour
1 Tbsp. sugar
3 Tbsp. margarine
2 Tbsp. ice water
Glaze:
2 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. cornstarch
1/2 C. orange juice
kiwi, peeled and sliced
3/4 C. banana, sliced thin
1 C. strawberries, sliced thin
Cooking Instructions
For crust, combine flours and 1 Tbls. sugar. Cut in margarine until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle with ice water; toss until crumbly. Form dough into a ball. Press dough into a circle on wax paper. Cover with another sheet of wax paper. Roll into a 10-inch circle. Remove top sheet of wax paper; invert onto an ungreased baking sheet. Crimp pastry edge. Prick with a fork. Bake crust at 400 degrees F. for 12 to 15 minutes, or until lightly browned. Cool. Meanwhile, for glaze, combine 2 tsp. sugar and cornstarch. Stir in orange juice. Cook and stir until thickened and bubbly. Remove from heat cool. Place crust on a serving plate. Arrange kiwi fruit in the center. Arrange bananas around kiwi and berries around bananas. Spoon glaze over fruit. Serve at once, or chill 1 hour.
