Filled Doughnuts
Ingredients
2 pkg. yeast
1 tsp. sugar
1 C. milk, scalded, then cooled
2/3 C. sugar
2 whole eggs or 4 egg yolks
1/2 C. shortening (1 part butter for flavor)
1 C. lukewarm water
7 C. sifted bread flour
DOUGHNUT GLAZE:
1 C. sugar
3/4 C. water
1 Tbsp. white syrup
Cooking Instructions
Pour yeast into cup of lukewarm water, add teaspoon sugar and stir. Let stand to cool, about 5 minutes. Cream together shortening, sugar and salt. Add beaten eggs. Add remaining ingredients and mix to a soft dough. Let stand until double in size, then roll out and cut. Let rise until light and bake into deep fat.
