Chicken With Walnuts
Ingredients
4 pounds Fryer chicken, cut up
1 tsp. Salt
1/4 tsp. Pepper
1/2 C. Flour
1/4 C. Butter or margarine
1 C. Onion, finely chopped
2 Cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp. Ginger root, grated
1 Bay leaf, crumbled
1 C. Red wine
1/2 C. Brandy
2 C. Walnuts, finely chopped
Juice of 1 lemon
1 tsp. Grated orange peel
1 tsp. Grated lemon peel
Cooking Instructions
Roll chicken in mixture of salt, pepper and flour. Melt butter in heavy skillet and brown chicken. Transfer chicken to crock pot. To skillet add onion, garlic, ginger and bay leaf. Saute until onions are translucent. Add wine, brandy, and nuts. Mix well. Add lemon juice, orange and lemon peel. Stir and cook 5 minutes to blend flavors. Pour over chicken. Cover and cook on low 6-8 hours
