Old Herefordshire Cider Cake
Ingredients
8 ounces flour
4 ounces sugar
1/4 pound butter
2 eggs
1/2 each grated nutmeg
1 teacup. of cider
1 each level tsp. baking soda
Cooking Instructions
Beat the butter and sugar into a cream. Add the eggs, well beaten, then the 4 ounces of flour sifted with the baking soda and nutmeg. Pour over all the cider, beaten until frothy. Mix thoroughly. Stir in remainder of the flour and mix well together. Bake in a shallow, well-greased tin, for 45 minutes in a moderate oven.
