Cherry Upside Down Cake

1/4 C. butter
1/2 C. sugar
2 C. sour cherries
Cake Portion
1-1/2 C. flour
1/2 C. sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 egg
1/2 C. milk
3 Tbsp. shortening-melted
Cooking Instructions
Melt the 1/4 C. butter in a 9″ pan. Add cherries mixed with the 1/2 C. sugar. To make cake, mix the flour, 1/2 C. sugar, baking powder, salt, 1 beaten egg, 1/2 C. milk and 3 Tbls. of melted shortening. Bake about 30 minutes in a 400 oven.
