White Cake
Ingredients
1 C. shortening
1 1/2 C. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. almond extract
2 3/4 C. cake flour; sifted
1/2 tsp. salt
4 tsp. baking powder
1 C. milk
4 egg whites
Cooking Instructions
Preheat oven to 350. Cream the shortening until light then gradually add 1 C. sugar and cream till light and fluffy. Add vanilla and almond extracts. Sift dry ingredients and add alternately with milk. Beat egg whites until frothy. Add 1/2 C. sugar and beat until stiff and shiny. Fold egg whites into batter. Pour batter into 2 greased and floured 9 inch cake pans. Bake at 350 for 25 to 30 minutes or cake tests done.
