Ingredients

8 slices white bread
margarine or butter
1/2 lb. ground beef
1/4 C. chopped onion
2 Tbsp. chopped celery
1 Tbsp. mustard
1/2 tsp. salt
1 C. shredded Cheddar cheese
1 egg, slightly beaten
3/4 C. milk

Cooking Instructions

Heat oven to 350º degrees. Toast bread, butter both sides. Cook and stir meat, onion, celery, mustard and 1/2 tsp. salt until meat is brown. Alternate layers of toast with meat mix and cheese-egg mix in greased baking pan, 9″x9″x2″. Mix remaining ingredients; pour over layers in pan. If you wish, sprinkle with paprika. Bake, uncovered, for 30-35 minutes. Serves 4-6.
