Ingredients

1 C. butter
2 C. sugar
3 eggs
3 C. flour
3 tsp. baking powdered
3/4 C. milk
1 C. warm mashed potatoes
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. cloves

Cooking Instructions

Cream butter and sugar; add eggs. Add flour and baking powdered to the egg mixture, alternately with milk, beating well after each addition. Add one C. warmed potatoes. For marble, take out 1 C. of batter and add vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. Pour remaining batter into well greased tube pan. Spoon marbled batter onto batter in pan. Swirl through pan for marbling effect. Bake at 350 for 1 hour or until cake tested done. For chocolate cake, reduce flour to 2-1/2 C.. Add 6 Tbls. cocoa and same amount of cinnamon and cloves. One C. chopped nuts may be added.
