Ingredients

1 1/2 C. corn meal
3/4 C. flour
1/2 C. sugar
1 1/4 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 C. sour milk (add 1 tsp. vinegar to make sour)
2 eggs
2 Tbsp. melted lard or shortening

Cooking Instructions

Bake in a 350 degree oven for 20 minutes or until done. ALTERNATE METHOD OF BAKING (1845 METHOD): Pour into greased spider. Place hot coals under spider and also on lid. Bake until done.
