Gingered Fruit Cup
Ingredients
1/2 C. sugar, or sugar sub equal to 1/2 C. sugar
1/2 C. water
3 slices fresh ginger (1/8-thick)
1 small cinnamon stick
1 pint strawberries, hulled and halved, if large
1 lb. seedless green grapes
1 cantaloupe
Cooking Instructions
Bring sugar, water, ginger and cinnamon stick to boiling in small saucepan, stirring constantly to dissolve sugar. Lower heat; simmer, uncovered, for 10 minutes. Strain through sieve into a bowl. Cool to room temperature. Add strawberries and grapes to syrup. Quarter cantaloupe. Remove seeds. Cut into wedges, then crosswise into bite-sized pieces. Add to bowl. Refrigerate, covered, until cold, and serve.
