Ingredients

2 C. brown sugar
2 C. hot water
2 Tbsp. shortening
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
1 packet seedless raisins
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
3 C. flour; sifted
1 tsp. hot water

Cooking Instructions

Boil together sugar, water, shortening, salt, raisins, and spices for 5 minutes. When cold, add the flour and the soda dissolved in 1 tsp. of hot water. This makes two loaves, bread pan size. Bake in 325 over 45 minutes. Be sure to grease pan.
