Award Winning Texas Sheet Cake
Ingredients
2 C. flour
2 C. sugar
1 stick butter
1/2 C. shortening
1 C. water
3 Tbsp. cocoa
2 eggs
1/2 C. buttermilk
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. cinnamon
Frosting
1/4 pound softened butter
3 Tbsp. cocoa
1 pound box confectioner’s sugar
6 Tbsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 C. chopped pecans
Cooking Instructions
Preheat oven to 375. Grease a cookie sheet with sides; set aside. Mix sugar and flour in a large bowl and set aside. In a saucepan, heat butter, shortening, water and cocoa until mixture comes to a rapid boil. Stir or whisk into sugar and flour. Add unbeaten eggs, buttermilk, soda, vanilla and cinnamon. Beat well. Bake about 20 minutes. Frost while warm. Frosting – Thoroughly mix the butter, cocoa, confectioners, sugar, milk, vanilla, and pecans. Spread on warm cake.
