Molasses Doughnuts 1
Ingredients
1/2 C. molasses
1/2 C. granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 Tbsp. melted butter
5 C. sifted enriched flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. ginger or 1 tsp. nutmeg
1 C. thick sour milk
Cooking Instructions
Beat molasses, sugar, and eggs until smooth. Add butter. Mix and sift 2 cups flour with the soda, salt, and ginger or nutmeg. Add alternately with the sour milk to the first mixture. Add sifted flour to make dough that can be handled easily. Chill in refrigerator. Roll dough a little at a time. Shape with small doughnut cutter. Fry in deep hot fat (370). Drain on absorbent paper. Makes about 4 dozen.
