Cider Stew For Crock Pot
Ingredients
2 pounds Beef stew meat 1-inch cubes
3 Tbsp. Flour
1 Apple, chopped
2 tsp. Salt
1/4 tsp. Pepper
1/4 tsp. Thyme, dried
2 C. Apple cider
1 Tbsp. Vinegar
3 Potatoes, pared and quartered
4 Carrots, quartered
2 Onions, sliced
1 Stalk celery, sliced
Cooking Instructions
Coat the meat with the mixture of flour, salt, pepper and thyme. In a skillet or large saucepan brown the meat in 3 Tbls. of oil. Drain off the fat. Place the vegetables and the chopped apple in the crock pot. Combine the apple cider and vinegar. Place the meat on top of the vegetables. Pour the cider vinegar mixture over the meat. Cover and cook 10 to 12 hours on low heat. Turn crock pot to high heat. Blend 1/2 C. of cold water with 1/4 C. of flour. Stir into stew. Cook and additional 15 minutes or until thickened.
