Ingredients

2 C. brown sugar
2 C. cold water
1 C. raisins
1/2 C. nuts; optional
1/2 C. figs
1 C. butter
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. nutmeg
3 eggs; well beaten
3 C. flour
2 tsp. soda
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar

Cooking Instructions

Mix well and boil together for 10 minutes the first nine ingredients. Remove and let cool thoroughly; then all eggs, flour, soda, and cream of tartar. Bake in loaf pan 350 for about one hour.
