French Onion Soup 1
Ingredients
4-5 lg. onions, sliced
1/4 C. butter or margarine
1 (10 3/4 oz.) can chicken broth
1 (10 3/4 oz.) can beef broth
Water
Toasted French bread slices
9 oz. shredded Swiss cheese
1/4 C. grated Parmesan cheese
Cooking Instructions
Combine onions and butter in a 3 quart casserole. Cover and microwave at High 7 to 8 minutes, or until the onions are soft and translucent. Pour chicken and beef broth into 4 cup measure. Add water to make 1 quart. Stir into onions. Cover and microwave 4 to 6 minutes until heated through. Ladle soup into 4 individual casseroles. Top with bread slices to cover. Sprinkle with cheeses. Microwave 4 to 6 minutes, until cheese melts. Rearrange dishes once or twice.
