Schnitsly ( Ukrainian)
Ingredients
1 lb. hamburger
1 lb. sausage
1 lg. egg
1 1/2 to 2 C. French bread crumbs
1 lg. onion, grated
2 to 3 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 loaf French bread
salt and pepper to taste
Cooking Instructions
Slice the bread in thick slices. Cover with cold water and let soak for 2 to 3 minutes, then squeeze out excess water. Mix all other ingredients together, except the bread crumbs. Make large balls of meat mixture, flatten to 1/2″ thick. Roll in bread crumbs. Heat 2 Tbls. oil in heavy skillet, place patties into skillet, and fry for 10 to 15 minutes over medium heat.
