{"id":10524,"date":"2026-02-15T19:02:48","date_gmt":"2026-02-15T19:02:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/recipe4thecook.com\/\/"},"modified":"2026-02-15T19:02:48","modified_gmt":"2026-02-15T19:02:48","slug":"country-chili-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/recipes4thecook.com\/vegetarian\/blog\/2026\/02\/15\/country-chili-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Country Chili"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"left\"><b><font face=\"comic sans ms\" size=\"5\">Ingredients<\/font><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Mix and let stand:<br \/>\n2 C. boiling water<br \/>\n2 C. tvp flakes or chunks<br \/>\n2 Tbsp. ketchup<br \/>\nPrepare:<br \/>\n1 large onion chopped<br \/>\n1 large green pepper chopped<br \/>\n2 cloves garlic chopped<br \/>\n1 jalapeno pepper chopped<br \/>\n2 Tbsp. olive oil<br \/>\n2 Tbsp. chili powder<br \/>\n2 tsp. cumin<br \/>\n2 tsp. oregano<br \/>\n1\/2 tsp. cayenne<br \/>\n2 28oz cans chopped tomato<br \/>\n2 16oz cans kidney beans<br \/>\n2 C. hot water or vegetable broth<br \/>\n16 ounces package frozen corn kernels<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><b><font face=\"comic sans ms\" size=\"5\">Cooking Instructions<\/font><\/b><\/p>\n<p>1) Mix water, tvp with ketchup and let stand 10 minutes. 2) heat a large dutch oven. Add olive oil. Over  medium heat Saute the onions, pepper and garlic a few minutes. Sprinkle the spices over  the tvp and stir with a fork. 3) add the tvp to the pan and cook a few minutes. Stir in the  beans, tomatoes and water or broth. Cover and simmer 30 minutes to one hr. Taste and  add salt if desired.
