{"id":132,"date":"2026-02-22T23:26:42","date_gmt":"2026-02-22T23:26:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/recipes4thecook.com\/pennsylvania-dutch-chicken-and-corn-soup-or-stew"},"modified":"2026-02-22T23:26:42","modified_gmt":"2026-02-22T23:26:42","slug":"pennsylvania-dutch-chicken-and-corn-soup-or-stew","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/recipes4thecook.com\/stew\/blog\/2026\/02\/22\/pennsylvania-dutch-chicken-and-corn-soup-or-stew\/","title":{"rendered":"Pennsylvania Dutch Chicken And Corn Soup Or Stew"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"left\"><b><font face=\"comic sans ms\" size=\"5\">Ingredients<\/font><\/b><\/p>\n<p>4 pounds stewing chicken<br \/>\n3 quarts cold water<br \/>\n2 medium onions, minced<br \/>\n1 C. celery, diced<br \/>\n2-1\/2 tsp. salt (or less)<br \/>\n1\/4 tsp. pepper<br \/>\n8 to10 ears corn, cut from cob<br \/>\n1 egg<br \/>\n1 C. sifted flour<br \/>\n2 hard cooked eggs, chopped<br \/>\nchopped parsley<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><b><font face=\"comic sans ms\" size=\"5\">Cooking Instructions<\/font><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Put chicken, water, onions, celery, salt and pepper in kettle. Cover and simmer for 2  hours or until fork tender. Remove chicken from broth; refrigerate both separately.  Remove fat from broth about 1 hour before serving. Add enough to water to make about  10 C. broth. Add corn. Simmer for 8 minutes. Remove chicken from bones; cut into  chucks. Add to soup. Beat egg until light in color in small bowl. Add milk. Beat in flour  until smooth. Drop from large spoon into simmering soup. Simmer for 3 minutes.
