{"id":9107,"date":"2026-02-15T18:58:59","date_gmt":"2026-02-15T18:58:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/recipe4thecook.com\/\/"},"modified":"2026-02-15T18:58:59","modified_gmt":"2026-02-15T18:58:59","slug":"catfish-gumbo-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/recipes4thecook.com\/seafood\/blog\/2026\/02\/15\/catfish-gumbo-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Catfish  Gumbo 3"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"left\"><b><font face=\"comic sans ms\" size=\"5\">Ingredients<\/font><\/b><\/p>\n<p>1 lb. catfish fillets<br \/>\n1\/2 C. chopped celery<br \/>\n1\/2 C. chopped green pepper<br \/>\n1\/2 C. chopped onion<br \/>\n2 garlic cloves, minced<br \/>\n2 Tbsp. vegetable oil<br \/>\n2 C. chicken broth<br \/>\n1 (14 1\/2 oz.) can whole tomatoes,<br \/>\n   undrained<br \/>\n1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen okra<br \/>\n1\/4 tsp. crushed red pepper<br \/>\n1 tsp. gumbo file&#8217; (seasoning mix)<br \/>\nSalt and pepper to taste<br \/>\n1 1\/2 C. hot cooked rice<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><b><font face=\"comic sans ms\" size=\"5\">Cooking Instructions<\/font><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Cut catfish into 1-inch pieces.  In a large Dutch oven, saute celery, green pepper, onion and garlic in the oil until tender, about 7 minutes.  Add broth, tomatoes, okra, red peppers, salt and pepper and gumbo file&#8217;.  Cover and simmer 20 minutes.  Add fish, cover and simmer 15 minutes or until fish flakes easily.  Serve over rice.
