{"id":79,"date":"2026-02-22T23:25:41","date_gmt":"2026-02-22T23:25:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/recipes4thecook.com\/italian-skillet-turkey-sausage"},"modified":"2026-02-22T23:25:41","modified_gmt":"2026-02-22T23:25:41","slug":"italian-skillet-turkey-sausage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/recipes4thecook.com\/sausage\/blog\/2026\/02\/22\/italian-skillet-turkey-sausage\/","title":{"rendered":"Italian Skillet Turkey Sausage"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"left\"><b><font face=\"comic sans ms\" size=\"5\">Ingredients<\/font><\/b><\/p>\n<p>2 tsp. olive oil, divided<br \/>\n1 lb. italian turkey sausage<br \/>\n1 egg, beaten (or substitute)<br \/>\n1 lemon peel, grated<br \/>\n6 Tbsp. italian breadcrumbs<br \/>\n2 C. plain tomato sauce<br \/>\n3 basil leaves, chopped<br \/>\n1 pinch fresh minced oregano<br \/>\n4 slices part-skim mozzarella cheese<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><b><font face=\"comic sans ms\" size=\"5\">Cooking Instructions<\/font><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Spray large non-stick skillet with cooking spray and add 1 tsp. of the olive oil. Combine turkey sausage with egg and lemon peel; mix lightly. Sprinkle bread crumbs on shallow plate. Shape 1\/4 of meat mixture into flat patty and press into crumbs, lightly coating both sides. Make 3 more coated patties with remaining meat and crumbs. Brown patties in skillet over moderate heat, for about 2 to 3 minutes. Add remaining tsp. of oil and turn to brown other side evenly. Mix tomato sauce with herbs.
