{"id":59762,"date":"2026-02-22T22:03:59","date_gmt":"2026-02-22T22:03:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/recipes4thecook.com\/mamy-nugat-mothers-nougat"},"modified":"2026-02-22T22:03:59","modified_gmt":"2026-02-22T22:03:59","slug":"mamy-nugat-mothers-nougat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/recipes4thecook.com\/russian\/blog\/2026\/02\/22\/mamy-nugat-mothers-nougat\/","title":{"rendered":"Mamy Nugat (Mother&#8217;s Nougat)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"left\"><b><font face=\"comic sans ms\" size=\"5\">Ingredients<\/font><\/b><\/p>\n<p>6       14-inch square wafers or tortenbode<br \/>\n1\/2 c   water<br \/>\n1   c   sugar<br \/>\n1   c   honey<br \/>\n6   lg  egg whites<br \/>\n1   t   cream of tartar<br \/>\n2   T   powdered sugar<br \/>\n1   lb  walnuts,shelled<br \/>\n1   T   vanilla extract<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><b><font face=\"comic sans ms\" size=\"5\">Cooking Instructions<\/font><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Cook the water and sugar, in a heavy bottomed 2-quart saucepan,<br \/>\nuntil the syrup moves away from the bottom.  Add the honey and cook down by a third. Whip the egg whites until soft peaks form and add the cream of tartar. Gradually add the powdered sugar and beat until stiff<br \/>\npeaks form, then add by spoonfuls to the honey mixture.  Transfer the<br \/>\nmixture to a double boiler and cook, stirring constantly, for 15 to<br \/>\n20 minutes, until it cooks down a bit.  Beat until the mixture looks<br \/>\n&#8220;dry&#8221;. Stir in the chopped nuts and cool.  On a work surface covered<br \/>\nwith waxed paper, spread a wafer with 1\/4 of the honey mixture about<br \/>\n3\/4 of an inch thick. Cover with a second wafer and press down<br \/>\nevenly. Spread another fourth of the honey mixture on the second<br \/>\nwafer and top with a third wafer. Repeat to makd a second nougat.<br \/>\nWrap each one tightly in heavy foil and refrigerate overnight.
