{"id":7068,"date":"2026-02-15T18:53:15","date_gmt":"2026-02-15T18:53:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/recipe4thecook.com\/\/"},"modified":"2026-02-15T18:53:15","modified_gmt":"2026-02-15T18:53:15","slug":"fried-chicken-for-camping","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/recipes4thecook.com\/outdoor\/blog\/2026\/02\/15\/fried-chicken-for-camping\/","title":{"rendered":"Fried  Chicken  For  Camping"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"left\"><b><font face=\"comic sans ms\" size=\"5\">Ingredients<\/font><\/b><\/p>\n<p>1 frying chicken, cut in serving pieces<br \/>\n1\/2 C. biscuit mix<br \/>\n1 pkg. dried onion soup mix<br \/>\n2 tsp. dried parsley<br \/>\n1 tsp. salt<br \/>\n1\/4 tsp. pepper<br \/>\nCooking oil<br \/>\n1 clean paper bag<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><b><font face=\"comic sans ms\" size=\"5\">Cooking Instructions<\/font><\/b><\/p>\n<p>NOTE:  Wash and cut up chicken at home where plenty of water is available.  Put chicken in zip shut bags and place in a cooler with ice just before the trip to the campsite.  Mix the dried ingredients and put in a covered plastic container to bring to the campsite.<br \/>\nAT THE CAMPSITE:  Prepare a fire of about 30 charcoal briquettes until they are white hot.  Make the fire under a grill or in a fire pit where you can use a portable grill.  Take chicken out of plastic bags and drain well.  Shake in mixture of biscuit mix, onion soup mix, parsley, salt and pepper in a clean bag.  Place large skillet on grill and heat oil.  Add chicken and brown on all sides.  When well browned, take away a few of the coals to lower the temperature.  Cover and cook for another 30 to 40 minutes until tender.
