{"id":39,"date":"2026-03-30T12:17:21","date_gmt":"2026-03-30T16:17:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/recipes4thecook.com\/chinese-chews"},"modified":"2026-03-30T12:17:21","modified_gmt":"2026-03-30T16:17:21","slug":"chinese-chews","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/recipes4thecook.com\/oriental\/blog\/2026\/03\/30\/chinese-chews\/","title":{"rendered":"Chinese Chews"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"left\"><b><font face=\"comic sans ms\" size=\"5\">Ingredients<\/font><\/b><\/p>\n<p>2 eggs<br \/>\n2\/3 C. sugar<br \/>\n1 tsp. vanilla<br \/>\n1\/2 tsp. baking powder<br \/>\n1\/2 tsp. salt<br \/>\n2\/3 C. all purpose flour<br \/>\n1 C. finely cut dates<br \/>\n1 C. chopped nuts<br \/>\nConfectioners&#8217; sugar<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><b><font face=\"comic sans ms\" size=\"5\">Cooking Instructions<\/font><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Beat eggs, sugar, vanilla, baking powder and salt until thick and ivory colored.  Combine flour, dates and nuts.  Stir into egg mixture.  Spread in 8&#8243;x8&#8243; dish.  Shield corners with foil.  Place dish on inverted saucer in microwave oven.  Microwave at High 5 to 8 minutes, or until almost dry on top, rotating 1\/4 turn after 2 minutes, then every minute.  Remove foil after 4 minutes.  Cool bars directly on countertop.  Cut into about 1&#8243; squares.  Roll squares in hands to shape into balls.  Place balls in plastic bag; add about 1\/4 cup confectioners&#8217; sugar.
