{"id":38,"date":"2026-02-22T23:05:46","date_gmt":"2026-02-22T23:05:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/recipes4thecook.com\/rich-vegetarian-gravy"},"modified":"2026-02-22T23:05:46","modified_gmt":"2026-02-22T23:05:46","slug":"rich-vegetarian-gravy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/recipes4thecook.com\/gravy\/blog\/2026\/02\/22\/rich-vegetarian-gravy\/","title":{"rendered":"Rich Vegetarian Gravy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"left\"><b><font face=\"comic sans ms\" size=\"5\">Ingredients<\/font><\/b><\/p>\n<p>1 Tbsp. sunflower oil<br \/>\n2 cloves garlic, minced<br \/>\n1\/4 C. tamari<br \/>\n1\/4 C. flour<br \/>\n1\/2 C. nutritional yeast (not yeast for baking)<br \/>\n1\/4 C. tahini (sesame butter) or almond butter<br \/>\n1 Tbsp. marjoram<br \/>\nSalt and pepper to taste<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><b><font face=\"comic sans ms\" size=\"5\">Cooking Instructions<\/font><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Heat the oil in a saucepan and saute the garlic for 2 minutes.  Stir in the tamari, flour, yeast, tahini, and marjoram; whisk to form a smooth paste.  Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring often. 2 to 3 C. water<br \/>\n1\/3 C. fresh parsley, minced<br \/>\n Whisk in water to thin the gravy, which will thicken as it continues to cook.  Simmer for 10 minutes over medium heat; avoid scorching.  Stir in the parsley; taste; adjust the seasoning.  Serve piping hot.  Serves 4.<br \/>\nThis rich gravy is delicious over tofu or tempeh cutlets, rice or potatoes.
