{"id":2224,"date":"2026-02-15T18:41:55","date_gmt":"2026-02-15T18:41:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/recipe4thecook.com\/\/"},"modified":"2026-02-15T18:41:55","modified_gmt":"2026-02-15T18:41:55","slug":"lemon-layer-cake","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/recipes4thecook.com\/cake\/blog\/2026\/02\/15\/lemon-layer-cake\/","title":{"rendered":"Lemon Layer Cake"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"left\"><b><font face=\"comic sans ms\" size=\"5\">Ingredients<\/font><\/b><\/p>\n<p>2 1\/2 C. cake flour; sifted<br \/>\n2 tsp. baking powder<br \/>\n1\/4 tsp. salt<br \/>\n1 Tbsp. lemon rind; grated<br \/>\n2\/3 C. butter; or shortening<br \/>\n1 1\/2 C. sugar<br \/>\n3 eggs; unbeaten<br \/>\n6 Tbsp. lemon juice<br \/>\n3 Tbsp. water<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><b><font face=\"comic sans ms\" size=\"5\">Cooking Instructions<\/font><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Sift flour once, measure, add baking powder and salt and sift together three times. Add  lemon rind to butter and cream thoroughly; add sugar gradually and cream together until  light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time beating thoroughly after each. Add flour,  alternately with combined lemon juice and water, a small amount at a time beating after  each addition until smooth. Bake in two greased 9-inch layer pans in moderate oven at  375 degrees for 20 minutes, or until done.
