{"id":1664,"date":"2026-02-15T18:41:30","date_gmt":"2026-02-15T18:41:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/recipe4thecook.com\/\/"},"modified":"2026-02-15T18:41:30","modified_gmt":"2026-02-15T18:41:30","slug":"chocolate-almond-marble-pound-cake","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/recipes4thecook.com\/cake\/blog\/2026\/02\/15\/chocolate-almond-marble-pound-cake\/","title":{"rendered":"Chocolate Almond Marble Pound Cake"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"left\"><b><font face=\"comic sans ms\" size=\"5\">Ingredients<\/font><\/b><\/p>\n<p>1\/4 C. margarine; melted<br \/>\n3 Tbsp. vegetable shortening<br \/>\n1 1\/3 C. sugar<br \/>\n3 egg whites<br \/>\n1 C. low fat buttermilk<br \/>\n1\/2 tsp. baking soda<br \/>\n2 1\/4 C. cake flour; sifted<br \/>\n1\/8 tsp. salt<br \/>\n3\/4 tsp. almond extract<br \/>\n1 ounce semisweet chocolate<br \/>\nBaking spray with flour<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><b><font face=\"comic sans ms\" size=\"5\">Cooking Instructions<\/font><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Cream margarine and shortening; gradually add sugar, beating at high speed of an electric  mixer until light and fluffy (about 5 minutes). Add egg whites 1 at a time, beating after  each addition. Combine buttermilk and soda, and set aside. Combine flour and salt; with  mixer at low speed, add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk mixture,  beginning and ending with flour mixture. Reserve 2 C. of batter; pour remaining batter  into a bowl. Stir almond extract into reserved batter; stir chocolate into remaining batter.  Spoon almond batter alternately with chocolate batter into a 9x5x3 inch loaf pan coated  with baking spray. Using the tip of a knife, swirl batters together. Bake at 325 for 1 hour  and 10 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
