{"id":1607,"date":"2026-02-15T18:41:29","date_gmt":"2026-02-15T18:41:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/recipe4thecook.com\/\/"},"modified":"2026-02-15T18:41:29","modified_gmt":"2026-02-15T18:41:29","slug":"caramel-apple-cake","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/recipes4thecook.com\/cake\/blog\/2026\/02\/15\/caramel-apple-cake\/","title":{"rendered":"Caramel Apple Cake"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"left\"><b><font face=\"comic sans ms\" size=\"5\">Ingredients<\/font><\/b><\/p>\n<p>1 1\/2 C. vegetable oil<br \/>\n1 1\/2 C. sugar<br \/>\n1\/2 C. packed brown sugar<br \/>\n3 eggs<br \/>\n3 C. flour<br \/>\n2 tsp. ground cinnamon<br \/>\n1\/2 tsp. ground nutmeg<br \/>\n1 tsp. baking soda<br \/>\n1\/2 tsp. salt<br \/>\n3 1\/2 C. diced peeled apples<br \/>\n1 C. chopped walnuts<br \/>\n2 tsp. vanilla extract<br \/>\nCaramel icing:<br \/>\n1\/2 C. packed brown sugar<br \/>\n1\/3 C. light cream<br \/>\n1\/4 C. butter or margarine<br \/>\nDash salt<br \/>\n1 C. confectioner&#8217;s sugar<br \/>\nChopped walnuts; optional<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><b><font face=\"comic sans ms\" size=\"5\">Cooking Instructions<\/font><\/b><\/p>\n<p>In a mixing bowl, combine oil and sugars. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after  each addition. Combine dry ingredients; add to batter and stir well. Fold in apples,  walnuts and vanilla. Pour into a greased and floured 10 inch tube pan. Bake at 325  degrees for 1 1\/2 hours or until cake tests done. Cool in pan 10 minutes; remove to a wire  rack to cool completely. In the top of a double boiler over simmering water, heat brown  sugar, cream, butter and salt until sugar is dissolved. Cool to room temperature. Beat in  confectioner&#8217;s sugar until smooth; drizzle over cake.
