{"id":1307,"date":"2026-02-15T18:41:27","date_gmt":"2026-02-15T18:41:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/recipe4thecook.com\/\/"},"modified":"2026-02-15T18:41:27","modified_gmt":"2026-02-15T18:41:27","slug":"absolute-best-apple-cake","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/recipes4thecook.com\/cake\/blog\/2026\/02\/15\/absolute-best-apple-cake\/","title":{"rendered":"Absolute Best Apple Cake"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"left\"><b><font face=\"comic sans ms\" size=\"5\">Ingredients<\/font><\/b><\/p>\n<p>3 C. flour<br \/>\n1-1\/2 C. sugar<br \/>\n3 tsp. baking powder<br \/>\n4 eggs<br \/>\n1 C. vegetable oil<br \/>\n2 tsp. vanilla extract<br \/>\n1\/4 C. lemon juice, freshly squeezed<br \/>\nDash salt<br \/>\n4 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced<br \/>\nSugar (as needed)<br \/>\nGround cinnamon (as needed)<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><b><font face=\"comic sans ms\" size=\"5\">Cooking Instructions<\/font><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Preheat the oven to 325 degrees. In a large bowl place the flour, sugar, baking powder,  eggs, oil, vanilla, lemon juice and salt. Mix the ingredients together well. Into a greased  and floured 10 inch tube pan spoon 1\/3 of the batter. Place 1\/2 of the apple slices on top.  Sprinkle them generously with the sugar and cinnamon. Place another 1\/3 of the batter on  top. Add the rest of the apples. Sprinkle on some more sugar and cinnamon. Place the  final 1\/3 of the batter on top. Bake the cake for 1 and 1\/4 hours, or until a wooden  toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let the cake cool for 10 minutes.
