{"id":427,"date":"2026-02-15T18:28:41","date_gmt":"2026-02-15T18:28:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/recipe4thecook.com\/\/"},"modified":"2026-02-15T18:28:41","modified_gmt":"2026-02-15T18:28:41","slug":"rhubarb-cake","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/recipes4thecook.com\/breakfast\/blog\/2026\/02\/15\/rhubarb-cake\/","title":{"rendered":"Rhubarb  Cake"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"left\"><b><font face=\"comic sans ms\" size=\"5\">Ingredients<\/font><\/b><\/p>\n<p>1 C. sugar<br \/>\n1\/2 C. shortening<br \/>\n2 C. chopped rhubarb<br \/>\n*1 C. sour milk<br \/>\n1 tsp. soda<br \/>\n1\/2 tsp. baking powder<br \/>\n1 tsp. vanilla<br \/>\n2 C. flour<br \/>\n1 tsp. salt<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><b><font face=\"comic sans ms\" size=\"5\">Cooking Instructions<\/font><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Cream shortening and sugar.  Add remaining ingredients.  Mix well.  Pour into greased 9&#215;13 pan.  Sprinkle with 1\/4 cup sugar mixed with cinnamon (to taste).  Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes.  May be served warm with cream or ice cream.  *To make sour milk, pour 1 tablespoon vinegar in cup, add milk to make 1 cup.
