{"id":286,"date":"2026-02-15T18:28:40","date_gmt":"2026-02-15T18:28:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/recipe4thecook.com\/\/"},"modified":"2026-02-15T18:28:40","modified_gmt":"2026-02-15T18:28:40","slug":"doughnuts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/recipes4thecook.com\/breakfast\/blog\/2026\/02\/15\/doughnuts\/","title":{"rendered":"Doughnuts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"left\"><b><font face=\"comic sans ms\" size=\"5\">Ingredients<\/font><\/b><\/p>\n<p>4 egg yolks, or 2 whole eggs<br \/>\n1 C. sugar<br \/>\n2 Tbsp. soft shortening<br \/>\n3\/4 C. sour milk<br \/>\n3 1\/2 C. flour<br \/>\n2 tsp. baking powder<br \/>\n1 tsp. salt<br \/>\n1\/4 tsp. nutmeg<br \/>\n1\/4 tsp. cinnamon<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><b><font face=\"comic sans ms\" size=\"5\">Cooking Instructions<\/font><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Turn onto floured board.  Roll dough to about 1\/3 inch thick.  Let rise 20 minutes.  Cut with doughnut cutter.  Heat deep fryer to 380 degrees.  Fat will cool as foods are dropped in.  Keep fat at 370 degrees at all times.  If grease is too hot or too cold, food will not turn out.    Drop doughnuts in fat (as many as can easily be turned).  Turn as they rise to surface and show color.  Fry about 2 or 3 minutes completely brown on both sides.  Lift with fork and place on absorbent paper.
