{"id":21,"date":"2026-02-22T22:20:50","date_gmt":"2026-02-22T22:20:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/recipes4thecook.com\/basic-bread"},"modified":"2026-02-22T22:20:50","modified_gmt":"2026-02-22T22:20:50","slug":"basic-bread","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/recipes4thecook.com\/bread\/blog\/2026\/02\/22\/basic-bread\/","title":{"rendered":"Basic Bread"},"content":{"rendered":"<p align=\"left\"><b><font face=\"comic sans ms\" size=\"5\">Ingredients<\/font><\/b><\/p>\n<p>1 1\/2           cups  warm water (105\u00ba to 115\u00baF)<br \/>\n1            package  Fleischmann&#8217;s Active Dry Yeast<br \/>\n2        tablespoons  sugar<br \/>\n1           teaspoon  salt<br \/>\n2        tablespoons  margarine &#8212; softened<br \/>\n4               cups  all-purpose flour (4 to 4 1\/2 cups)<br \/>\nCooking Spray<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><b><font face=\"comic sans ms\" size=\"5\">Cooking Instructions<\/font><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Place warm water in large, warm bowl. Sprinkle in yeast; stir until dissolved. Add sugar, salt, margarine and 2 cups flour. Stir to make smooth batter. Gradually stir in enough remaining flour to make soft dough. Turn out onto lightly floured surface. Knead until smooth and elastic, about 8 to 10 minutes. Spray dough with cooking spray; cover with bowl; let rise 20 to 30 minutes.* (see notes)<br \/>\nPunch dough down. Divide dough into 2 equal portions. Roll each to 11 by 7-inch rectangle. Roll up tightly from short end; pinch seam and ends to seal. Place, seam side down, in two 7 1\/2 by 2 1\/2 by 3 1\/2-inch loaf pans coated with cooking spray. Cover; let rise in warm, draft-free place until doubled (1\/2-inch over top of pan), about 1 hour.<br \/>\nBake at 375\u00baF for 35 to 40 minutes, or until done.
