Danish Coffee Cake
Ingredients
First:
1 C. flour
1/2 C. butter (margarine)
2 Tbsp. water
Second:
1/2 C. butter
1 C. water
1 tsp. almond flavor
1 C. flour
3 eggs
Cooking Instructions
First: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Measure first cup of flour into bowl and cut in softened butter. Sprinkle with water and mix with a fork, round into a ball and divide in half. Pat dough with hand into 2 long strips, 12 inches by 3 inches. Strips should be 3 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Second: Mix second amount of butter and water. Bring to a boil in saucepan. Add flavoring and remove from heat. Beat in flour, stirring quickly to keep it from lumping. When smooth, add 1 egg at a time, beating after each egg until smooth. Spread 1/2 of each strip to cover. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Frost with powdered sugar, almonds, cherries, etC. after it has cooled.
